Overspending
Knowing Your Brain State
If you have struggled with overspending, you may think you have a "spending problem" rather than a brain state issue. In states of stress, the chemical cascade and spending issues are often part of that brain state effect. Understanding brain states can be a first step toward compassion and toward feeling prepared to gain freedom from that emotional drive. .
The Basics
The drive to overspend is very common, associated with the high that comes from the purchase to the low of self-deprivation afterwards, as well as the emotional drive for clutter.
The EBT Approach
The drive to overspend and clutter is a survival drive that is wired into the brain during stress. It is common to feel safe when acquiring objects and holding onto them. It is not reasonable to change those patterns without substituting another excess if the emotional wiring of a secure connection to ourselves is not in place.
Most individuals who register for EBT to overcome overspending have more than one excess, and want to have freedom from the whole range of common stress symptoms. The approach is to access external help for spending, such as accountants and financial counselors, and to use EBT to address the root cause of the problem and re-encode pathways for a secure and rewarding emotional connect within.
Getting Started
Take our EBT Basics: Wired for Joy Course. You'll begin to think in terms of brain states, and wires, and learn how to switch your brain from any level of stress back to joy. Continue with the advanced courses until you have what you most want from this training. The rewards of a brain in balance are: sanctuary, authenticity, vibrancy, integrity, intimacy, spirituality and freedom.
Choose the reward that matters most to you, and then move through the EBT courses until you have an abundance of it, and you are wired for joy.
