Sexual Concerns
Knowing Your Brain State
Knowing your brain state can make it easier to understand the emotional and physical symptoms of sexual concerns. By becoming emotional brain literate these states make perfect sense. It's not about you but your wiring that triggers brain states in which sexual concerns are more likely to occur.
The Basics
Sexual functioning and desire are highly sensitive to stress. Desire ramps up or it shuts off. Relationships outside of a committed relationship may become attractive. Discord about sexual acts and frequency of lovemaking are common. This discord, if not resolved, may chip away at the trust and viability of the relationship.
Stresses related to sexual orientation or gender identification can amplify this stress. In addition, pornography can become an external solution that separates sexual acts from the richness of emotional connection, which in turns increases its addictive potential.
The EBT Approach
In EBT, we approach sexual stress as very important and resolving it requiring strong tools in EBT. Each aspect of sexual stress mentioned above can activate very primitive wiring, which can lead to extremes of thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
Our sexuality is encoded primarily in the unconscious memory systems of the emotional brain so using EBT is very important. The stress of sexual avoidance, misuse or excesses and have far-reaching effects. Certain acts can have profound and lasting impacts on relationships.
A comprehensive approach to sexual stresses includes consulting with your physician about any physical or medical aspects of this stress, engaging in couples counseling or even individual psychotherapy. The EBT practice is involved to ease stress, nab and rewire the circuit that triggers the patterns, and to support a whole brain change of becoming wired at Brain State 1.
Getting Started
Take our EBT Basics: Wired for Joy Course. You’ll begin to think in terms of brain states, and wires, and learn how to switch your brain from any level of stress back to joy. Use one-on-one coaching to nab and re-encode the circuits that block your sexual joy. Choose the reward that matters most to you, and then move through the EBT courses until you have an abundance of it, and you are wired for joy.
