Don't Settle . . . "Get to 1"
Don't Settle . . . "Get to 1"
The most important choice you make in a day is wether or not you decide to take charge of your Brain State.
This is because when you wake up in the morning and commit to doing your best to get to Brain State 1, the benefits start flowing. From thinking creatively, to feeling great, to being intimate in your relationships, and more, deciding to spend time in Brain State 1 is not just a different way of thinking, it's the ultimate elixir.
But what about just stopping at Brain State 2? It takes effort to get to Brain State 1, if I just stop at Brain State 2, isn't that good enough?
This question gets at the heart of the reason why EBT can both remove health problems and also bring life's richest rewards. While getting out of Brain State 4 and Brain State 5 removes the need to over eat or other commen excesses, it is being in Brain State 1 that brings Life's richest rewards. You miss out on the evolutionary-based benefits of surges of neurotransmitters in your pleasure pathway.
You might ask yourself when slipping from 1 to 2, "Where did my compassion go?" or "What happened to my creative inspiration?" or even "How did I lose my passion?"Being at 1 is the basis for beauty. All faces are beautiful when at Brain State 1.
An EBT provider recently wrote: "I witnessed a participant moving to 1 in my group tonight. She started using the tools when at Brain State 5. She had been at 5 all week and felt "stuck" there. She started with the tool for Brain State 5, Damage Control, but it was when she got to 1 that she said she felt a waive of love and compassion for herself, then a calmness came over her, and her face was so full of radiance. A beacon of light!"
Until neuroscience has made its leap with the profusion of research in the last decade have we understood that there are five "tracks" in the brain, discrete processes to switch from whatever state of stress we are in back to our joy. Previously, we had to "think" our way out of stress, exercise far too much or engage in various external solutions. Now we reach for the precise tool that will switch the brain to 1. We need not settle, unless we simply want to be stressed at the time.
Yet more and more, people "get to 1." Why NOT be at 1? It's just a matter of taking a moment or two and . . . voila! You feel a surge of pleasure in your body or a "neuro-hit" of power and positive emotional flow. It's a radical idea to choose to switch your brain state to 1, and in effect strengthen the joy response.
It's a radical idea, but more and more you notice yourself saying, "Why settle? What not get to 1?"
