Information Overload: Taking Responsibility for Our Emotional Brain

Information Overload: Taking Responsibility for Our Emotional Brain

For a moment, let's take pit on our emotional with all the  information overload. I always read the paper in the morning. There is the decaf coffee, strong, sultry, and the two pieces of high protein, gnarly fiber-filled whole wheat toast, a large splash of 1 percent milk in the mix, and the paper.

This is not rational. The San Francisco Chronicle is going downhill, but do I really want to switch to the Marin Independent Journal, getting all the news but not the "City" news? And who can justify two papers, as there is so much recycling to do, and then the loss of all the carbon.

How long will it be until I wake up in the morning and touch (not turn on) my iPhone and click on the New York Times? The nurturing quality of papers may be lost on those who are over 40. The question becomes, can I take responsibility for my emotional brain and be extra careful what information flows into it?
