The story of our EBT journey would be the greatest story ever told

Laurel has written, but most of us will be too busy living our lives in joy and purpose to write it.  The King's Speech is the story of the rewiring from stress to joy of King George's brain on the eve of World War II with compassionate support from his unorthodox speech therapist Lionel Logue.

The movie chronicles the EBT experience beautifully.  The stress symptom that we want to change.  Moving through the portal of emotional expression to access our unconsciousness stress curcuits. The use of expletitives in our process. The stress circuits downloaded in early childhood or created in times of trauma.  The daily practice and repetition, the feeding of new experiences to our limbic brain so that joy circuits form and strengthen.  The creation of a safe environment.  The use of responsive, flexible limits.  The joy and purpose and authenticity and intimacy that is experienced with rewiring.  And the underbelly of joy that is pain and is an integral part of the experience of joy.

Don't let me give the impression that this is a documentary.  It is a well written, well acted movie--it is entertainment at its best.  It doesn't use the language of neuroscience or secure attachment--it simply tells the story of the human experience of transformation that  happens because of our incredible capacity to rewire our brains from stress to joy.

What a movie!  The limbic resonance in the theatre was contagious!  I laughed and cried with a theatre full of complete strangers.  We clapped at the end and walked out talking and listening to one another.
