Savoring Fat and Sugar Over the Holidays: Amounts Count
You are challenged by all the luscious foods over the holidays. Think of January with the workouts, the celery stalks, the crunches, and I don't mean food.
Now is the time to enjoy life's pleasures, and you can do that without gaining ONE ounce. The strategy? Amounts count. This is the formula. If you decide to eat White Stuff, eat half as much. If you like volume, great. Then load up on veggies (preferably, as they have fewer calories and offer more satiety) and fruits. Eat until you are ...stuffed. Want the luscious stuff? It is NOT hunger you are satisfying, but instead giving yourself a neurotransmitter high (think addiction!). So give that to yourself, except wind down amounts to 1/2 the size of what you would have had if you had been eating healthy food.
That's a version of "damage control" for the holidays. Even more savor each morsel!
