The White Coconut Cupcake Story
The White Coconut Cupcake Story
One of my most cherished friends was in my EBT group for several years. She was a total crack up. She would make everyone in the group laugh with her hilarious stories about food, including eating white coconut cupcakes from the deli after the EBT group. And she was so warm and sensitive and everyone fell in love with her. When she finally had enough of the rewards from that rewiring that the drive to overeat shut down, she came to the group and was furious.
"I hate it. Food doesn't do it for me any more. The method RUINED food for me!"
And then she laughed, and her whole face lit up with such an intense joy that the whole room was flattened emotionally.
So was I.
One of my favorite things about facilitating EBT groups is seeing the transformation. You notice it in endearing ways, sometimes from just subtle changes in habit, or a change in how someone holds their body, but just it seems to come out of the blue. The amazing thing about these little changes is that they are these tiny symbols of the massive changes that the person has made in their way of experiencing life . . .
