Why Can't I Nail A Circuit: Neuroscience Realities

So you get triggered and are in stress. How is that? Who knows? It is about being stressed, but what we do know is that the chemical effects of that leave us neocortically blind. We don't know what that circuit is. Sure if it were not us, we would know, but in that emotional moment, our neocortex shuts off. We need someone who will listen to us as we state our upset, Just the Facts, then really listen to the flow of feelings that follows. With enough training they can guide us through the challenging part of the Cycle, the expectations, and there we go, with a circuit nabbed, and feeling an intense emotional shift.

Sure we could do that for ourselves, but the stress it takes to access an allostatic circuit shuts off our minds. An EBT Coach is trained to listen to you fully, then you decide which of their suggestions ring true for you, and then move along with the skill and POP to 1.

This is a method based on self-directed neuroplasticity that is guided with professional support. Most of the Cycles we can do alone. The most productive Cycles involve a chemical response in which we cannot go it alone. I suggest that you establish a relationship with an EBT Coach, then in addition to group support, check in with that person when the need arises. Often a "triggering" happens when we least expect it, so having an established relationship opens the door to getting support as soon as that neural circuit is triggered.
